Mila & Luke’s 12.14.22 Litter

Adoption Day!

We had yet another group of wonderful people for Mila’s second litter. Raising puppies for each of you was an absolute pleasure. Special thanks to the Briggs for bringing all the youngsters to socialize with puppies. Then thanks to Bruce and Cyndi who braved the wintery pass with four precious cargo for Seattle families unable to travel safely. And for our returning family, two Ever After puppies are now blessed with a terrific home, thank you (three more and all of the boys will have one - ha!). Lastly, thank you for all the pictures sent - what a gift to see our sweet puppies so happy!

Mila & Luke’s 12.14.20 Litter - Week 8

And They Called It Puppy Love

Last birthday update – hope the pictures make you smile. The 8-week evaluation went well (Turquoise won the hearts of all in the room with his perpetual tail wagging). Again, Mila has an entire litter of top-breeding quality puppies for structure and temperament. Ever After is excited to be producing such quality for deserving puppies and families. On top of that news, each puppy mastered going up and down the cement steps leading outside from the basement. The two girls even braved the deck steps which are always harder for puppies due to the open vertical spaces. Additionally, each puppy now sleeps all naps contentedly in its own crate. A schedule will be provided for you on adoption day; but let us take a moment to relish the nighttime sleep schedule from 11:00 P.M.-6:00 A.M.- yeah! Outdoor potty is winning over the litter trays at this point. Your cuties know how to “sit” for a treat, and “come” for play and snuggles. Still to be experienced this week are eye exams for the puppies (extra gift from Ever After), and their first veterinary wellness exams with shots, dewormer, and micro-chips. For those who have not done so already, BAXTER & Bella on the RESOURCES page would be a great purchase at this point. The life-time puppy-training course - at an unbeatable price with Ever After’s breeder code - will help you get ready for your puppy the way it deserves with potty charts, field trip ideas, games, live training classes, phone support, and much more. Lastly, did you know that chocolate is toxic for dogs – even Valentine chocolates given in love? Check out the number of toxic foods, plants, etc. on the RESOURCES page. Adoption day is coming soon - be ready!

Mila & Luke’s 12.14.20 Litter - Week 7

Crate training continued on schedule. Puppies were paired in the smaller crates with doors closed at each nap. Including their Snuggle Puppies, I guess you would say there were really three puppies in three different crates. Each puppy loves to rest its head on a Snuggle Puppy while it sleeps. The Snuggle Puppies are on the RESOURCES page if you want to purchase a safe sleeping toy that your darling is familiar with and that could help with the transition from our home to yours. Food is a mixture of softened and hard kibbles now. Mila is still nursing, but she is cutting the time short as her milk decreases. The pups are learning to spend time with Mom without always getting milk. Ever After is working with each puppy on appropriate biting – toys and siblings, fine; but people, not so fine. This is such a lovable bunch of goofballs. You are all so blessed to call one of them your own.

Mila & Luke’s 12.14.20 Litter - Week 6

To start, Ever After would like to do a big shout-out to Elouise, Ever After’s hardworking partner/employee/helper! She rocked adventure week with the puppies! The little darlings enjoyed a bigger indoor pen, a covered pen outdoors (safe from birds of prey), snow time in the big yard with Mom and Aunt Hazel, and even climbed the backyard steps! Their trots (looking more like faster waddles) were adorable as they scattered all over the big yard not knowing what to do with all that freedom. They will now graduate to crate doors being closed for selected nap times - when Ever After can trust them to “hold it.” Thus, closed-door crate training begins! For protection against internal parasites, Mila and pups were given Panicure with two more doses to follow. Along with weekly nail trims, the puppies had their eyes, bums, and paw pads trimmed which you will find are often needed between professional groomings. Cleaning out hair in the ear canals will be a reality too. Check out #2-#4 on the RESOURCES page for grooming tips. Did you know that there is a special cut for Australian Labradoodles?

Mila & Luke’s 12.14.20 Litter - Week 5

Porridge and water made it predominantly in the mouths this week. Well, the water bowl is still frequently walked through; but let us not expect perfection yet. Although still nursing, Mila has decided that sharp baby teeth are a good reason to start the weaning process. Your puppies are really into playing. They enjoy chewing on their toys of various textures and noise levels. Still, nothing beats the pleasure of wrestling with one’s siblings. A bigger pen with two large crates for open-doored sleeping was introduced. Also, the pups are getting the hang of using the litter trays over their play areas and crates. That makes the staff at Ever After VERY happy. Truly, there are no favorites to be had in this bunch – all are playful, affectionate, and goofy. We adore each one!

Mila & Luke’s 12.14.20 Litter - Week 4

Porridge week! Porridge is moistened, pureed, and warmed puppy food with canine formula. The goal is to get puppies to eat more porridge than they wear – easier said than done. Also, this is a vocal bunch! We like to think of it as Ever After’s influence from an atmosphere filled with piano and voice practices as well as radio tunes. Hope you like singers! Firsts are happening so fast: teeth are coming in, wobbles have changed to little hops and trots, and they are seeking cuddle buddies with the family of Ever After in addition to their siblings. We adore their bunny soft neck snuggles – so scrumptious! Desensitization is always a focus as Ever After touches the puppies, holds them, and introduces various toys with noises in hopes of developing curiosity minus fearfulness. Lastly, your darling puppies received their second dose of dewormer as a birthday treat.

Mila & Luke’s 12.14.20 Litter - Week 3

New Years Labradoodle Puppy.

Happy New Year!

Daily Puppy Culture techniques of early neurological stimulation combined with lots of cuddling are easy tasks for the crew at Ever After – our pleasure! Puppies are picking up speed with their wobbling now. Their ears have opened, they are gnawing on “beginner” toys (as well as siblings), and they are doing “baby howls” – yes, “baby howls” – super cute! We have a number of bruisers in this bunch. As a help to Mommy Mila, Ever After will have to start these kiddos on porridge SOON. As a gift to you, all six rang in 2021 with a quick photo before closing their eyes for another nap.

Mila & Luke’s 12.14.20 Litter - Week 2

Each weekly birthday, Ever After clips the white tips of the puppies’ nails with a human fingernail clipper. Check out the video How to Trim Dog Nails near the bottom of the RESOURCES page for tips on avoiding the quicks (the innervated, vascularized core of the nail bed = blood vessel and nerve inside the nail – ouch!). Also, puppies began opening eyes this week! But they will need a few more weeks for their eyes to fully develop. In addition, puppies are attempting to walk now. How sweet to watch them adorably wobble over to Mommy’s milk bar! As a Christmas gift, Ever After gave Mom and pups doses of Strongid (dewormer) - yum! For all of us at Ever After, it was an extra special Christmas as each member (8 of us) took turns snuggling puppies while watching Hallmark Christmas specials.

Warm hugs beneath the Christmas tree!

Mila & Luke’s 12.14.20 Litter - Week 1

Since the puppies have yet to see, hear, walk, regulate their own body temperatures, and defecate on their own, it is amazing to watch them thrive as they feel, smell, tummy scoot, and seek out their mother in this new world. Mila corrals them with nose nudges, licks them for stimulation, cleans them as needed, and stays near them for warmth. She is an amazing mother. Ever After enjoyed giving the litter Christmas-themed names that will last them until February adoption days. The weights listed are their birth weights. All are nursing well and growing at a steady rate. As a gift to puppies and you, Ever After had the puppies’ dew claws removed at 2 days old for prevention of serious injuries in the future. For a birthday celebration, the puppies had their “nails done” - with a human nail clipper since the nails were so small.

And so it begins…December 14, 2020, Mila gave birth to six healthy puppies from 3:29 P.M. - 5:05 P.M. (fast!); four boys and two girls (pink & yellow); five chocolate and white; one white with caramel spots. Mom and babies are doing well!
