Lila & Niko 7.19.26 Cow Litter - Week 5 & 6
Visitations started a bit early with this litter. Being new to the Seattle area, it was fun sharing puppy love with folks in our Mount Vernon, WA home - even if the boxes are still being unpacked;) Socialization from people of all types is so healthy for the puppies. Ever After works hard to help the pups be their best selves for deserving families. That said, a big shout-out is due to our employee of the summer, ELOUISE! We couldn’t ask for a more responsible, loving helper with the four boys and Lila. With her training on a consistent schedule, the puppies are doing so well with their litter trays. Elouise has even started working on bite-inhibition training since baby teeth are making their debut. We will miss Elouise when she heads back to college soon:(
Lila & Niko 7.19.26 Cow Litter - Week 4
Porridge week is all about helping Momma Lila out in filling little tummies throughout the day - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lila still nurses between meals. Typically, it’s not till 5 and 6 weeks that porridge and water are taken more seriously by the puppies. However, nursing with Mommy is ALWAYS a highlight for the littles.

With a moo-moo-here and a moo-moo-there, these tiny black & white calves have found their voices. Puppy sounds rank up there with babies’ belly laughs for cuteness. The BOYS are walking around now and hear the world around them. Music and a variety of toys have been introduced to the play area for different sounds, textures, and obstacle course experiences. Letting them sleep under the chins of eight Ever After family members this week was a highlight. They may be the Cow Litter, but their fur is soft like a bunny’s.

Eyes are open and will continue to develop throughout the following weeks. Ears will be next. Already the boys are trying to use their wobbly legs. Jerky puppy dreams with squeaky noises are adorable for all-day entertainment. But, let’s talk about their coats - look at that shine - gorgeous! Of all the colors produced by the Australian Labradoodles, black coats never disappoint with their sheens. In this litter, the official colors are 1-black with white markings, 2-black parti, 3-Tri black tuxedo, 4-Tri black phantom.
Lila & Niko 7.19.26 Cow Litter - Week 1
The first week is all about helping Mom get rest, feeding her more food to keep up with her nursing puppies, and making sure all of the pups steadily gain weight. Lila is a delightfully snuggly house guest and even better mommy. She adores her boys and cares for them with ease. With eyes and ears closed, Lila helps by gently nudging her babies with her nose when she is ready for them to nurse or move to where it’s warm. The puppies are unable to regulate their own body temperatures, and Lila instinctively knows they need her assistance. She also licks them to stimulate potty-time since they don’t initially do that on their own either. Sleeping and scooting on their bellies to the milk bar sum up the puppy action right now. Announcing Ever After Labradoodle’s first litter in our new Mount Vernon, WA, home! From Spokane, WA, Lila traveled the pass to whelp her litter. After a few days of settling in, Lila effortlessly delivered five babies from 11:13 PM to 1:07 AM. Sadly, the only female was a still born. Miscarriages don’t happen often, but it is always hard losing a precious puppy. The remaining four boys proved to be strong nursers and Lila instinctively knew exactly what to do - clean them, nurse them, and keep them warm. Their colorings are adorable - remind us of little calves from our uncles’ farms in Minnesota and North Dakota.
